Milia Extraction - Skincredible

milia

Milia, also known as ‘milk spots’ are tiny white or yellow bumps that appear on the surface of the skin.
They often form around the eyes, eyelids, cheeks, nose and mouth. They can sometimes form on other areas of the body such as the torso or genitalia.

Milia are caused by a build up of keratin, a protein that is found in the skin. While milia are not harmful, itchy or painful, they can cause discomfort or be unsightly and are difficult to remove without treatment. In most cases, they require extraction, as they will not disappear without intervention.

Please note: this may vary from person to person. All patients will have a full clinical consultation and assessment prior to treatment, tailoring it to their specific needs.

A small needle is used to create an incision into each milia bump and the contents are gently removed from within the skin.

A single session is sufficient in most cases, however, in moderate or extreme cases, multiple sessions may be required.

Although extraction is permanent, it is possible for milia to reoccur after treatment. However, proper skincare can help prevent reoccurrence. This will be discussed in your consultation during your assessment.

After the treatment, you will be left with a small red bumps. These will return to normal within a few days.

Some extractions can leave a small crust/scab. This will fall away naturally within 1-2 weeks
